(2024-07-04) Famitsu - "I want to be that person who connects our juniors with our seniors"

How was today's photoshoot?
Yokoyama : Most Morning Musume。costumes are cool, so I was happy to wear a cute and flowy dress today! I chose a high tone hair color because I wanted to look like a French doll. Today's haircut with twin tails reinforces this doll image even more!

The new song "SaiKIYOU", part of the new single released on August 14, has a really cool atmosphere.
Yokoyama : This song includes a long rap part. I was told to record it all at once, instead of separating it into parts, like we used to do a lot during recordings. This is when I realized "Oh, that whole rap part is just for me, I don't share it with anyone else". I decided to take on the challenge, because if people would allow me the whole part, it meant that I was able to do it just by myself. I said to myself "I want that part. I want to succeed.".

The other new song entitled "Nandaka Sentimental na Toki no Uta" has lyrics that reflect a unique world view. This song has been a hot topic since you performed it for the first time.
Yokoyama : It's a type of difficult song that hasn't been done before… But I also like songs with this kind of world view! I'm 23 years old now, I can relate to that kind of lyrics. Although it may be difficult for the members who are still in their teens to relate to this song now, I think they will realize the content of the lyrics as they get older. In that sense, I want this song to be sung forever. I think it's a song that will help the members grow.

Yokoyama-san is now an experienced member! Can you describe more your role within the group? Do you ever think about that kind of stuff?
Yokoyama : When it comes to my role, I say something like "in charge of being the bright person" (lol) but I think that's surprisingly important. In ascending order of ages in the group, I'm currently in the middle of the group, so I've recently been voluntarily taking on the role of connecting the younger members and the older members by interacting with everyone.

I heard from your manager earlier that there was a very difficult scene at the Budokan performance the other day and that it was Yokoyama-san who saved the day.
Yokoyama : Did you really hear that!? It's embarrassing to be praised when you're not there!

During the performance, one of the members got sick and had to leave the stage.
Yokoyama : Yes. If someone wanted to go backstage, there was no way to let them know since the concert was in progress. In such cases, the only way to communicate is through eye contact, and I noticed this in Ishida Ayumi-san's eyes while we were dancing. So, during the solo part of the missing member, I immediately grabbed my microphone and sang her part in order to not leave the song empty. In such cases, the audio engineer also turns up the volume on everyone's microphones and stands by "Anyone please sing!".

That's a story that gives me goosebumps!
Yokoyama : I'm the kind of person who knows lyrics from the whole song, not only my parts. That's why lyrics come out instantly, so I think if during a live performance, someone's part is missing, I'd often be able to end up covering it instantly.

Yokoyama-san, you held the other day "Hellotsu LIVE" which was very well received and watched by lots of people. Would you like to do it once again?
Yokoyama : I would love to do a kind of part 2 of my first appearance. Another live with Kitagawa Rio-chan to play various horror games, like last time!
